In 1975, a modern exhibition wing was added with donations by John D. and Ruth West of Manitowoc and the Rahr Foundation. This wing features two large galleries, which are the scene of approximately 10 exhibitions yearly, changing approximately every four to six weeks, and featuring such local favorites as Tablesetting, County Artists, and Youth Art.
Events at the Rahr-West Art Museum are designed to build community. We like to reach out and connect with people living and working in Manitowoc County. We're not just a fancy Victorian mansion on the corner of Eighth and Park Streets. We reach out and share the treasures we have with children and adults in places like Whitelaw, Valders, Kiel, Two Rivers, Cleveland, Maribel, Francis Creek, and Manitowoc!
