Sputnikfest 2012 is now history, and an out of this world experience was had by all. This year there was also an International flavor, with the BBC entering two of our competitions. The success of this event is a credit in no small part to the support we received from our volunteers and sponsors.

We would like to thank the following sponsors, Amy’s Apparel, Bank First National, Cher-Make Sausage, Color By Us, Fricke Printing Services, Hamman Construction Company, Karl’s Excavating, Kiwanis Club of Manitowoc, Konitzer’s Fine Line Painting, Manitowoc Noon Rotary, Mythic Non-Toxic Paint, Orion Energy Systems, Riverwood-Maritime Credit Union, Tim & Ann Salutz Family, Shoreline Credit Union We also received additional support from St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Manitowoc Lions, Friends of the Rahr-West Art Museum, Hallman Lindsay, Mayor Nickels, Manitowoc Police & Fire Departments, DPW and Parks & Recreation.

A special thank you to Charlie Kurth who not only was the MC for the Aluminum Foil Costume Contest , but also volunteered his services as the auctioneer for our Cake Auction. Thank you to Chris Kornely, our Alien Pet Contest MC, Mary Shulander, the producer of the Ms. Space Debris Pageant; and we cannot forget our contest sponsors. Acute Angle, Talk To The Paw and Fox’s Piggly Wiggly, and of course the many volunteers who helped out in other ways throughout the day. These individuals are a vital part of an event of this magnitude, and our community is truly blessed to have so many citizens willing to help out.

Finally we thank the artists and members of the community who participated in this wacky tacky event. Whether you entered one of the many contests or purchased Sputnikfest merchandise or an alien for the alien drop, or maybe you just came to enjoy the art, music and refreshments.

Please know your support helps the Rahr-West Art Museum provide art education opportunities to the community, and we are grateful to each and every one of you. Sputnikfest celebrates an event so unique that no other community can claim it. This festival is supported, celebrated and attended by our community.

See you on September 7, 2013 for next year’s Sputnikfest!
