Tree City USA

Manitowoc Tree City USA
Did you know that the National Arbor Day Foundation has given the City of Manitowoc the Tree City USA designation each year since 1983? As a Tree City USA, Manitowoc must meet the criteria for the following four standards:
  • A tree department
  • A tree care ordinance
  • A comprehensive community forestry program
  • An Arbor Day observance & proclamation
Arbor Day
The City of Manitowoc hosts an annual Arbor Day celebration on the last Friday of April. The Izaak Walton League generously donates trees to the City of Manitowoc to be planted on that day.  In 2017, a grant was also received from the American Transmission Corporation. In honor of Arbor Day, please plant a tree in your yard or contribute to a local beautification project.
