What do you get when you combine Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math? You get programming designed to inspire creativity and innovation, that’s what! The STEAM Makerspace activities planned for the Manty Kids division of Manitowoc Public Library are fun, hands-on drop-in events that take place on Monday afternoons from 1-3 PM during June and July as part of MPL’s Summer Library Program. On July 24th, there’s a program whose simplicity is matched only by its deliciousness—Build Your Own Cupcakes! Picture this: a mountain of unadorned cupcakes, heaps of buttercream frosting and an expert cupcake decorator on-hand to assist with the beautification process. And voila—art you can eat! These programs are designed for school age children who can work independently. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. Admission is FREE!!!

Houston, we have no problem! The countdown to fun starts at 0300 hours—or 3 PM, to us non-astronauts—on Tuesday, July 25th in the Balkansky Community Room as Manitowoc Public Library invites every teen Star Commander in the Manty Quadrant to “Rocket’s at the Library,” presented by 4-H. Teams or individuals will design, decorate, and launch their 2-liter water rockets, with the goal of either attaining the greatest height or attempting to land their projectile in a particular location. So, take your Protein Pills, put your helmet on, and head to MPL for a rocketin’ good time! Admission is FREE!!!
