Doing your best to fit in is a trial even for most standard-issue individuals. But, what about when someone is faced with a tremendous challenge, such as Treacher Collins syndrome—a rare genetic facial deformity. This is the affliction that our 10-year old protagonist, Auggie, must contend with as he navigates the minefield of Fifth Grade in both the film (starring Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts) and printed version of Wonder. However, one huge question remains—which version does a better job of putting this heartrending tale before the public: the book or the movie? You’ll have the opportunity to discuss this oft-debated point if you attend Manitowoc Public Library’s “Book and a Movie” at Lakeshore Cinema—1118 Washington Street—on Monday, November 19th, at 7 PM. Watch the movie and then participate in the discussion of the book versus the movie that follows. Books can be checked out prior to the screening at Manitowoc Public Library. Admission is FREE!!!
