Wild is a dramatic film based on Cheryl Strayed's 2012 memoir, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, starring Reese Witherspoon as Strayed. Both the movie and the novel explore Strayed’s 1,100-mile solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail, a journey brought about by the devastation she felt and life choices she made as a result of her mother’s death at the age of forty-five from lung cancer. Hers is a tale of self-discovery and enduring personal challenges. One huge question remains though—which version does a better job of putting all of this out before the public: the book or the movie? You’ll have the opportunity to discuss this oft-debated point if you attend Manitowoc Public Library’s “Book and a Movie” at Lakeshore Cinema on Monday, May 14th, at 7 PM. Watch the movie and then participate in the discussion of the book versus the movie that follows. Books can be checked out prior to the screening at Manitowoc Public Library. Admission is FREE!!!
