From time to time, it happens that one bus or even the whole system cannot keep its schedule, which generally happens as a result of heavy traffic or weather conditions. Occasionally, Maritime Metro Transit has to detour a route because it cannot use a street on which it normally operates. Causes of detours range from street repairs to accidents and weather conditions. When such conditions exist in your area, it is suggested that you contact the transit office for information on route detours. When a delay or detour is expected to be of any great length, the transit system makes every effort to ensure that the public is informed.
Since there are no posted bus stop signs along the temporary segments of detoured routes, the buses will stop at any “safe” corner to board and discharge riders until the detour is over.
You should always hail a bus that you want to board, but this is even more important when you are waiting at an unposted bus stop on a detoured route.
In major snowstorms or other bad weather conditions, please tune in to WOMT 1240 AM or one of the other local radio stations for cancellation announcements. The radio stations will be notified prior to service being cancelled. Service is rarely cancelled, but please realize that delays may occur.
