The Midwest's largest maritime museum offers guided tours of the nation's
most completely restored WWII submarine, USS COBIA, a gallery dedicated
to Wisconsin-built recreational boats, hands-on activites in the Children's Waterways Room and Little Lakefarer's Room, and a working triple-expansion marine steam. Visit the Museum’s Gift Store, Pier 75, for all your nautical purchases!

Rogers Street Fishing Village (free / donation)
Nestled on the shore of the East Twin River, this museum village and heritage park is devoted to the history of Great Lakes commercial and charter fishing. Relive famous maritime disasters in the Coast Guard exhibit Shipwrecks! Memorial Day through October 10 am to 4 pm. By appointment year round.

Rahr West Art Museum (free / donation)
The 1891 Rahr mansion features include a doll collection, doll house, and an ivory collection. View changing exhibitions as well as a permanent collection

Pinecrest Historical Village (admission, 5 and under free)
Historical rural museum interprets village and farm life in late 19th century Manitowoc County. Capitol Civic Centre

RECREATION

Mariners Trail
This six mile paved trail starts at the north end of Manitowoc along the scenic lakeshore and extends to downtown Two Rivers. It's the longest continuous scenic view of Lake Michigan in the state of Wisconsin. It accommodates bicyclists, walkers, joggers and roller bladers.

Lincoln Park Zoo (free / donations)
See prairie dogs, bobcats, cougars, bison and raptors as you walk through a natural setting designed to make you and the animals comfortable. Come early and witness young salmon or trout in a feeding frenzy at the holding pond. The Animal Care and Education Building features a rain forest habitat and exotic, tropical, and native fish. Manitowoc Parks
Twenty six city parks throughout Manitowoc provide a range of facilities from boat launching and fishing to team fields, tennis courts, trails, swimming pools, picnic areas, restrooms and beaches. Visit Manitowoc's Community built Playground at Henry Schuette Park or the NEW BMX/Skate Park Complex at Dewey St. Park. Some playground areas are supervised. Band concerts at Manitowoc's MetroStage in Washington Park Wednesday evenings during summer.

NATURE

Manitowoc Lakeshore and Waterfront
During the summer, watch SS Badger back into her carferry dock or sailboats and yachts glide into and out of our beautiful harbor. Wade in Lake Michigan, stroll along the beach, or follow the paved walkway to the lighthouse on the breakwater. You'll pass a wildlife sanctuary with nesting sites for Great Lakes waterfowl along the way. Accessible to the Mariners Trail.

Wetlands, Marshes and Wildlife Areas
Collins Marsh, Vanderbloomen Bog, Ledgeview Nature Center and Maribel Caves. Interpretive hikes available.

Woodland Dunes Nature Center (free)
Explore diverse ecosystems in an oasis of wooded swales and ridges, meadows, marshland, swamps and sandy fields. Wildflower sanctuary and bird-banding station. Seven nature trails open year 'round. Interpretive hikes and educational events have fees. 920-793-4007

West of the Lake Gardens (free)
Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, Sunken Garden and a Formal Garden on six acres along Lake Michigan's shore. Young or seasoned gardeners will enjoy this scenic display. Great photo opportunities. You can access the MarinersTrail from the Gardens. (Seasonal, 10 am - 4 pm) 920-684-8506
