The Manitowoc Police Cadet Program is for anyone between 9th grade and college, between 14 and 21 years old, who wants to learn and experience what being a police officer is all about. As a Manitowoc Police Cadet, you will receive top notch instruction and hands on training from a team of Manitowoc Police Officers.
Not only will you gain a learning and training advantage over other police recruits, when you finally get to police recruit school, you will have opportunities to put your training to the test against other police department Explorer/Cadet Units in annual competitions around the state.
In addition to the tremendous training you will receive, you will be expected to assist the police department with various tasks at many different events going on in the city throughout the year. For this you will receive community service hours toward your graduation requirements and gain standing experience within our Cadet Unit.
The Manitowoc Police Department reserves the right to conduct background checks of potential Cadets and to deny membership into the Cadet Program based on excessive school disciplinary records or any negative contacts with police. A fee is required to join the Cadet Unit, as membership capacity in the Cadet Unit will be limited.
Cadet uniforms will be provided by the Manitowoc Police Department and are required to be worn at every training meeting and city event in which Cadets are assisting.
