Assessment Dates to Remember
January 1
Statutory assessment date. All property is assessed as it existed on this date.
January 31
Full payment of taxes due or if paying in installments, due date of first tax installment. Last day of property owners to file Forms §74.35 or §74.37 Tax Claims with the City Clerk.
March 1
Due date Statement of Personal Property and Exemption forms.
March 31
Due date second installment of tax payment.
April - May
Assessment change notices are mailed at least 15 days (30 days in revaluation years) prior to the Board of Review meeting.
May - on or before 1st Monday
Assessment roll is completed and submitted to the Municipal Clerk. Assessment roll open for public inspection.
May - 2nd Monday
Board of Review shall meet during the 30-day period beginning the second Monday of May.
May 31
Due date third installment of tax payment.
July 31
Due date fourth and final installment of tax payment.
November
Budgets debated and passed by Taxing Authorities. Final tax (mill rate) is determined.
December (mid-late)
Tax bills are prepared and mailed to property owners.
