Manitowoc's Tree City USA Designation
Did you know that the National Arbor Day Foundation has given the City of Manitowoc the Tree City USA designation each year since 1983? As a Tree City USA, Manitowoc must meet the criteria for the following four standards:

• A tree department
• A tree care ordinance
• A comprehensive community forestry program
• An Arbor Day observance & proclamation

In recent years, the City of Manitowoc has also received annual Growth Awards.  Growth Awards are presented by the Arbor Day Foundation to participating Tree City USA communities that demonstrate higher levels of tree care and community engagement during the calendar year.

Arbor Day Celebration
The City of Manitowoc hosts an annual Arbor Day Celebration on the last Friday of April. Typically, the Izaak Walton League generously donates two trees to the City of Manitowoc to be planted on that day for the celebration. In honor of Arbor Day, please plant a tree in your yard or contribute to a local beautification project.
