Retail / Financial Crime Prevention Task Force

Retail Crime Prevention Task Force

The Manitowoc Retail and Financial Crime Prevention Task Force meets on the first Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the Manitowoc Police Department, 910 Jay Street, in the lower level meeting room.

The purpose of these two groups is to exchange information about retail theft and shoplifter information. We also discuss general crime in the banking, financial and retail industry. This would include bank retail robbery, fraud, and bad checks. These crimes affect both retail and financial businesses along with the entire community.

All the members are connected by email which makes it very easy to share information between them and the police department. For instance, if a checkbook is stolen and fraudulent checks are being written, an email goes out to everyone not to accept the checks and to call the police if one is used. It also allows notification of the banks to cancel the checks.
