Police Chaplain Program

Manitowoc Chaplain Program

Law Enforcement Chaplains offer comfort, prayer, guidance, wisdom, common sense and expertise to members of the Manitowoc Police Department, their families, and the community at large.

When there is an unexpected death, a victim/survivor of a violent crime, or a domestic dispute, our professionally trained chaplains are a resource to our community in their time of need. During times of crisis, the Chaplain/Clergy Team is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day, to aid our citizens or just to be a ministry of presence.

Chaplains do the following:

  • Provide assistance to victims of trauma and crisis
  • Make death notifications
  • Assist at suicide incidents
  • Deal with domestic disputes
  • Serve as a member of the Crisis Response Team
  • Serve as liaison with other clergy in the community
  • Counsel police officers and other members of the department
  • Counsel the families of police officers
  • Visit sick and injured officers and departmental personnel in their homes and at the hospital
  • Educate police officers in areas such as stress management, ethics, family life, and pre-retirement
  • Provide a variety of events during Police Appreciation Month
  • Go on ride-a-longs with police officers
  • Furnish expert answers for religious questions
  • Offer prayers when requested at times of need and at special occasions
  • Serve on review boards, award boards, and other committees
