[ARCHIVED] Volunteer Opportunity at the Henry Schuette Park Community Built Playground

Community Built Playground

The Community Built Playground at upper Henry Schuette Park, 3800 Broadway Street, will be undergoing a maintenance project beginning Monday, July 19, 2021.

In 2001, two members of our community came forward with an idea for a playground that would rival any in our nation.  Two years of planning and thousands of volunteers later culminated in a six day build that produced a one of a kind play structure that has been a destination for families in and out of our community for almost two decades.

In the spirit of the Community Build Model, the City of Manitowoc Parks Division is looking for volunteers who would like to come forth the week of July 19th – July 23rd to help with a maintenance project at the Community Built Playground.  Activities include carpentry, landscaping, painting, sanding, etc.  Carpentry experience is preferred but not necessary.   Volunteers shall be a minimum of 14 years old and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  If anyone is interested in volunteering, please contact Brock Wetenkamp at bwetenkamp@manitowoc.org for more information and to sign up for a time slot.

Although volunteer opportunities will end July 23rd, additional maintenance may require the playground to remain closed until July 30th.   Follow the Manitowoc Parks and Recreation Division on Facebook for additional information or receive information via text message or email by visiting www.manitowoc.org/notifyme and following the instructions.
