Mayor Justin M. Nickels has declared a snow emergency overnight tonight (Friday 12-23-22) into tomorrow (Saturday 12-24-22).
The Snow Emergency will be in effect overnight tonight (technically Saturday morning) from 1:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m. No parking is allowed on any city street during those hours. A $75 citation will be issued to any vehicle parked on any city street between those hours.
Most streets have been plowed once (except for parking lanes), but due to the heavy winds a lot of snow has drifted and several inches have accumulated in many areas. The goal is to hit every city street overnight and have our graders scrape salt routes to peel off some of the packed snow during the day today and overnight. The weather conditions look like they will remain constant now, so hopefully we do not get more snow before we start plowing the entire city overnight.
Our crews have been working hard the past 48 hours. We hope to have all the streets cleared for Christmas Eve and Christmas.
Remember: even if your street has already been plowed or appears plowed, the parking ban is still in effect on every city street. Do not assume that if your road has been plowed that you can park on the street. There is no parking between 1:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m.
Thank you for helping our crews plow the streets safely.
