Former architect, Bernadette Fox, looks like she has it all—a gorgeous Seattle home, a brilliant adolescent daughter who’s set to attend an elite boarding school, and a loving, successful husband. Suddenly, Bernadette disappears without a trace. Not seeing any other choice, her family embarks on an exciting adventure to solve the mystery of where she may have gone. Based on the 2012 novel of the same name, the 2019 dramedy—directed by Richard Linklater—stars Cate Blanchett, Billy Crudup, Laurence Fishburne, and Kristen Wiig. With all this intrigue, one huge question remains—which version is more appealing? You’ll have the opportunity to discuss this oft-debated point if you attend the return of Manitowoc Public Library’s “Book and a Movie” at Lakeshore Cinema on Monday, January 17, at 6:30 PM.
